The Model Show happens once a year at, you've guessed it, the Olympic Flight Museum. The Olympic Flight Museum and the Tacoma Model Club sponsored this year's event. South Sound Composite Squadron helped man the registration booth, work crowd control and teach kids how to make paper airplanes. Model Show prizes were awarded in various categories including; Best Detail, Best Made by a kid, Best Made, 1 st , 2 nd , and 3 rd place. As part of the hands-on paper airplane exhibit, I taught how an aircraft flies and the Four Forces of Flight. The kids enjoyed learning aviation facts while pretending to be engineers. They were all smiles during the process of creating their paper airplanes.

The two members pictured are 1st Lt K. Russell and C/TSgt Paula Stack.  C/Stack is our cadet PAO.  This event is held in the fall - usually in August or September, in conjunction with (and at) the Olympic Flight Museum and the Tacoma Green Dragons Model Club.  SSCS assists in organizing and running it and supplies the winning certificates.

C/Stack is manning a booth for on-lookers from kids to adults where she can teach them a little about aerodynamics and "just plane fun."  (Punn intended...)  Some of the paper airplanes were designed by aeronautical engineers and were more difficult than your average paper airplane.
