Our Emergency Services Officer is Lt. Carlos Rangel

Today, CAP nationally handles 90 percent of inland search and rescue missions, with approximately 75 lives saved each year. Our members are generally the first on the scene transmitting satellite digital images of the damage within seconds around the world and providing disaster relief and emergency services following natural and manmade disasters, including such phenomena as 9/11, Hurricane Katrina, Texas and Oklahoma wildfires, tornadoes in the south and central U.S., North Dakota flash flooding and the October 2006 earthquake in Hawaii, as well as humanitarian missions along the U.S. and Mexican border. Locally, our squadron has several members who work with Mason County Search and Rescue in addition to being available to assist with Civil Air Patrol emergencies. As part of the Emergency Services training, it is important for each member to be self-motivated to learn. Our squadron conducts classes and training missions, in addition to the training available at the Wing level. At Wing level, Washington Training Academy (WTA) holds classes September through May on the third weekend of the month. You are encouraged to attend as many of these classes as possible.
